Canon EOS-1D Mark III That curse of the D-SLR user, dust on the image sensor, isn’t a problem for the Mark III user, because the new camera features Canon’s multipronged EOS Integrated Cleaning System. Ultrasonic vibrations shake dust off the infrared-absorption glass at the front of the sealed sensor unit, while an anti-static surface on the low-pass filter discourages dust. And a Dust Delete software feature subtracts dust spots automatically after the fact.

Two—count ’em, two—new Canon DIGIC III image processors are at the heart of the camera’s incredible shooting rate, as well as improved image quality (16,384 levels per channel vs. 4096 for the Mark II, plus 50 percent less shadow noise). There’s also quicker autofocusing, image processing and memory-card access speed and more.
